Typical Scouting Year

Summer Events

Our calendar is currently being developed for the 2016-2017 school year. Check back soon!

Fall Season

Popcorn Kick-Off
We normally start the Scouting year with the Popcorn Kickoff in August. While not a Scouting event per se, we like to get together, share some stories, taste some popcorn, and get all the kids excited about the prizes associated with fundraising in the Scouts.
Fall Camporee
Albemarle Service Unit will host a fall camporee for Cub Scouts and their families October 9-11 in historic Murfesboro, NC during the Civil War Living History Days. Specail reenactments and demonstrations will be open to the Scouts.
Pumpkin Chunkin'
The 2015 Pumpkin Chunkin will be held again this year at Pipsico Scout Reservation and it will be the best one yet! Come out and participate and witness awesome spirited participants as they calculate and hurl pumpkins high and low through the air!
In addition to the main event, participants will have the opportunity to shoot bb-guns, archery, paintball, and throw tomahawks; relax on the hay rides; and enjoy excellent fall camping weather.  Don’t forget to enter into one of the many other food cook-offs or Pie Eating contests! Concessions will be served in Kiwanis and the camp Trading Post at Base Camp will be open!!
Bobcat Ceremony
Earing the Bobcat Badge is an important first step, no matter where you begin your scouting journey. At this ceremony, we honor that first step for a Scout in a specail setting with the whole pack family. Weather permiting, it will be conducted around a campfire.
Holiday Celebration
Our annual holiday celebration is an oppourtunity to have fun with our Scout families, and award our scouts for all their hard work during popcorn season and the first half of the scouting year.

Spring Season

Pinewood Derby
The pinewood derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. Then they race the cars in friendly competition.
Blue & Gold Banquet
The Blue & Gold Banquet is synonymous with "the birthday of Scouting". It is one of the highlight of the program year, bringing Pack families together for dinner and an evening of fun entertainment.
Spring Camporee
Our spring camping allows the Scouts to showcase some of the skills that they may have learned over the program year so far.
Crossover Celebration
All Scouts advanced to the next level of scouting at the end of the current school year. This event is a celebration of growth and achievement as our Scouts rise to the next step of their journey.
